I used to paint my fingernails back in middle school, but stopped because I was just too rough on my hands. This continued up until... well, it's still going on! Only for the past several years I have had an excellent excuse: I worked with animals, and my hands would get WAY too beat up and dirty to justify nail polish. So I made (and still make) my toenails pretty instead. In fact, that is one of the girliest parts about me. I even have pink nail polishes.

I now work a desk job, which I guess is slightly less rough on my hands, except that I'm typing all day. I keep my nails short as it is (I have oddly shaped fingernails that don't look good long), but hadn't even thought about giving painting them another try until now! Maybe I will. I don't know. I don't like how my toenails look without polish - they're not scaly or yellow or suffering from fungus or anything; they just look too PLAIN - but I love how my unadorned hands look, minus the fact that I have fat little fingers.

Plus I'm nowhere near as good painting my fingernails since I don't paint well with my left hand, whereas with my toenails I can paint both feet with my right!

Although, there is a cosmetology school around here - cheap manis! Lord knows my poor, beat up hands could use one!

If only I could stop biting my nails long enough to grow them! When I do, I like them pretty pale pink or nude colors, I think it makes a beautiful accent to hands. Which, as we all know, are SO important to gay girls . . . I also love to get mendhi done, the Indian henna decorations. Nothing like stroking a girl's silky skin with your hands all decorated and lovely.

My nails (toes and hands) are almost never unpolished. I'm a little obsessive about it, honestly. I love having my nails pretty and painted, though I've gotten picky enough about it that I won't let anyone else do them; I only do my own anymore. As to the fucking aspect, well, I kinda prefer gloves anyway.

I would never do fake nails, but I like the way my own look clicking across a keyboard in red or adobe-pink. I don't let them get TOO long (I do like them to be *ahem* functional, afterall), but I let them get long enough to register (to me) as feminine and pretty.

I appreciate a good manicure on anyone, whether they choose to grow, paint, or whatever. Really long nails are gross, imo, and really, as long as someone takes good care of their nails and they look good on them, I approve. :)
