twittering femme

According to the Tweet Cloud that was generated this morning of all the twitter updates I’ve posted in the last year the three words that I have used most frequently are: kestryl (my partner’s name), home, and you guessed it, FEMME !

It seems extra applicable sitting here on the last day of what has been a completely glorious holiday weekend filled with time just chilling with my family, and nesting, and just generally feeling very comfortable in my own skin.

For me these three words being the most common terms I’ve micro-blogged about in the past year really symbolizes to me the values I hold about my family (my partner & I along with our furry kids) being my number one priority, and then the great joy that I have found within and amongst femme community. p.s. if you are on twitter please follow me there too! @sassafraslowrey

I’m pretty amused that Femme ended up so  prominent in my highlighted tweets of the year, but I guess it makes sense given the focus on femme writing and femme community in my life, so really I shouldn’t be surprised if next year it’s equally front and center in my Tweet Cloud. To help keep it that way, I have a question for all of you readers…..

What are some aspects of femmeness that you would like to see me blog about????

p.s. have you read the most recent article by Ivan Coyote over at xtra.ca yet?  If not, you simply must! Ivan is one of my favorite storytellers and in this particular piece does a really great job of knocking flat the arguments about what sorts of domestic things butches should or shouldn’t enjoy.  My partner is far better at everything domestic like cooking and cleaning than I will ever be and I love it! I feel like the luckiest femme in the world as I have a butch who cooks me homemade organic dinners every night, and always keeps our house stocked with lovely baked goods, and who will spend hours looking at interior design catalogs with me.  There have been so many times in our relationships that friends- especially butches have made snide comments about hir love of things like cooking and baking, of course always after they have stuffed themselves with hir delicious red velvet cupcakes *rolls eyes *
